So, my time has come as far as moderating the sculpture gallery goes. I would like to thank everyone in the sculpture community as well as those of you who simply enjoy and appreciate the creations that come from a sculptor's hands and heart. I thank all of you for your patience as I tried to educate myself in the many wonderful venues that sculpture can follow--the tremendous scope of what sculpture can encompass is seemingly endless. I thank you for your opinions and suggestions; I thank you for sharing your art; I thank you, in many instances, for your friendship.
I came into this 'job' being a self-taught polymer clay dabbler (and I still am!) but I leave here feeling that I have learned so very much. I have been humbled and at times, awestruck at the amazing abilities of so many in the sculpting community of dA. I leave this position feeling privileged to have discovered so much that is beautiful and unique in the sculpting world. It's all here--sculptures from stone, clay, wood, paper, steel, sand, snow, wax, the environment, lego, mixed media and more.
Sculptors are amazing people. You are devotees of one of the most ancient art forms in the history of humankind but your imaginations and talents know no bounds and you each have made this art form uniquely your own. I admire all of you for your allegiance to sculpture; for keeping it alive in the midst of a heavily digital and computerized art environment. I am lucky to have found so many of you and your gorgeous creations and disappointed to have missed even more. I wish all of you the very best in life and in art. Thank you for the opportunity to have served you. It's been a helluva ride.
